The Sweden-based duo known as Quit Life joins forces with Japanese multidisciplinary artists W.ANNA.W for their first collaborative effort, “Crystalline”. In this five-tracks EP, Quit Life’s ambient sound palette meets with W.ANNA.W’S chopped breaks and ethereal vocals, evoking the “ambient breaks” wave of the mid 90’s.
However, thanks to a contemporary approach to sound design and songwriting, “Crystalline” is far from being retro or nostalgic, pushing the boundaries of “chill out music” to its very limit to reach what could only be defined as a “dream-state” experience. The sense of emotional calm induced by tracks such as “Q&A” and “Repose” is not the goal, in fact, but rather a mean through which Quit Life and W.ANNA.W transport the listener into their own dimension.
